In 2024 the Indiana Hoosiers went 11-1 and made the College Football Playoffs for the first time ever! It was a truly spectacular season and an even more amazing experience. Here is a collection of each Postgame article from every game of the season.

Week One has come to a close for the Hoosiers and they made sure not to disappoint. Indiana defeated FIU in a 31-7 victory on Saturday. Everyone was excited to see what Curt Cignetti would do with this team and he has shown that the Hoosiers have the abilities to keep on winning. It was immediately recognizable based on how well the Hoosiers ran the ball. While the offense performed fairly well, there is still a lot to improve.

After a less than impressive performance last week against FIU, the Hoosiers decided to change it up and came out firing against Western Illinois. Last week against FIU, IU showed how talented their running backs are this season and continued to do so in Friday’s game while also showing how explosive their receivers can be.

Indiana had its first Big Ten matchup against UCLA Saturday night and boy did they not disappoint. Throughout the week, Coach Cignetti harped on the fact that their trip to Pasadena would strictly be a business trip, and they treated it just like that. The Hoosiers marched into the Rose Bowl stadium to take care of business and walked out with a 42-13 victory.

Week 4: Indiana Hoosiers vs Charlotte 49ers

Defense Prevails Struggles in First Half.jpg

The Hoosiers beat the Charlotte 49ers in a dominant fashion, winning the game 52-14 Saturday afternoon. This is the fourth week in a row where Indiana has dominated its opponent and it most likely won’t be the last. While the Hoosiers’ defense held the 49ers to a mere 14 points, they seemed to struggle at times in their run defense in the first half and early in the 3rd quarter. However, following a 4th and 1 stop in the 3rd quarter, their struggles seemed to subside.

The way Indiana’s offense started the game was not what you wanted to see as a Hoosiers fan. Kurtis Rourke threw two back-to-back interceptions on their first two drives and things weren’t looking the best for Rourke and the offense. However, the Hoosiers maintained their composure and got the job done in a 42-28 victory over the Maryland Terrapins.

Another week and another victory in the books for the Hoosiers after defeating Northwestern 41-24. Indiana has now become the first bowl eligible team in the country and the first FBS school to reach six wins this season. While the Hoosiers looked great yet again, the defense continues to struggle, especially with giving up big plays.

October 19, 12:00pm @ Bloomington, IN

There have been many doubts if Indiana would be able to perform against tougher teams and they made a statement today in a huge blowout against the Cornhuskers. The Hoosiers put up a whopping 56 points and allowed only 7 from the Huskers during Saturday’s matchup. Some people didn’t believe that Nebraska’s defense would be too difficult for Indiana to handle, which was the complete opposite of what happened. Indiana’s running backs took control of the game with the help of this stellar offensive line.

Week 9: Indiana Hoosiers vs Washington Huskies

Indiana is now 8-0 after defeating the Washington Huskies and have continued to dominate on the scoreboard. However, there were a lot of worries about how the offense would fare without their star quarterback Kurtis Rourke. With Rourke out and Tayven Jackson in, some people didn’t think the Hoosiers would be able to perform like they used to, but the defense really stood up today and shouldered the weight of the team, especially the sophomore transfer from JMU, D’Angelo Ponds.

November 2, 3:30pm @ East Lansing, MI

For the first time ever since the start of Indiana’s football program 137 years ago, the Indiana Hoosiers are 9-0 and hungry for more. After a rough start in the first quarter, it seemed as if the Hoosiers wouldn’t be able to contain Michigan State’s quarterback, Aidan Chiles. However, Indiana’s defense was able to adjust at lightning speed and dominate the Spartans offensive line.

Defense Clutch Against National Champs.jpg
November 9, 3:30pm @ Bloomington, IN

In 2024 when you think of an Indiana football game, you’re usually thinking a blowout where Indiana’s offense dominates the scoreboard, which is still very surprising to think about. However, the Hoosiers experienced nothing but a defensive battle against the defending National Champions – after opening up a 17-3 lead. The Hoosiers were having a tough time on offense during the second half, so the defense needed to take action to have any chance of winning.

November 23, 12:00pm @ Columbus, OH

The Hoosiers traveled to Columbus for one of the biggest games in program history and it did not fair out how they expected it. Besides the offensive struggles, the game became out of the Hoosiers control due to the special teams’ multiple fiascos.

The regular season is officially over for the Hoosiers and for the first time in program history, they are 11-1! After a heart-breaking game against the Buckeyes last Saturday, the Hoosiers had some issues to work on before facing off against their biggest rival, Purdue. Throughout the game, it was clear that the Hoosiers understood the assignment as they tore the Boilermakers to shreds.

December 20, 8:00pm @ South Bend, IN

The Hoosiers are heading back to Bloomington after finishing their last game of the season. Indiana suffered a disappointing loss to the Fighting Irish Friday night and couldn’t get things going all game long. One of the biggest things on defense was their inability for the first man to make the tackle.
